PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head-up display that can adjust a contrast with outside scenery in accordance with a driving state of a vehicle and that can improve safety without preventing the driver's field of view even in traveling on a slope. SOLUTION: This head-up display 1 includes a combiner with which the driver can view with a little change of his line of sight, a light source 3 and a display device 4 to project an image on the combiner, a liquid crystal shutter 24 for changing the transmittance of outer light on the combiner, a controller 5 for controlling the light source 3, the display device 4 and the liquid crystal shutter 24, and a light sensor 9 for detecting intensity of the outer light to change the transmittance of outer light in the combiner corresponding to the outer light.
