PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording head excellent in abrasion resistance and water repellency and constituted so as not only to reduce the adhesion and remaining of ink on a discharge orifice surface having discharge orifices for discharging ink formed thereto but also to prevent the damage of the discharge orifice surface even when the ink adhering to the discharge orifice surface is wipen off by a wiping member. SOLUTION: This ink jet recording head is equipped with the discharge orifices for discharging ink and an energy generating element for generating energy to discharge the ink from the discharge orifices. A water repellent resin layer having a large number of protrusions protruding outwardly is formed on the discharge orifice surface 7b having the discharge orifices formed thereto.
