<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which adequate heater output is obtainable without being affected by a variance in temperature sensing elements. <P>SOLUTION: The temperature-time characteristics under prescribed conditions are determined and the variance in thermistor detection is detected by the inclination of the characteristics and is corrected. The adequate heater output can therefore be obtained and the temperature can be made to attain a set temperature and can be maintained at the same without being affected by the variance in the thermistors (within allowable tolerance). In this embodiment, a heater lighting duty is subjected to correction processing under the use environment and a regulation mode for performing preliminary data collection is prepared for the purpose of the correction processing. The characteristics between the temperature detected by the thermistor 2 and the time within a fixing unit 1 are shown in Fig. First, the heater is turned on and the time until the temperature detected by the thermistor attains a certain temperature from a certain temperature is counted and the heater is turned off. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
