PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile communication method for shortening communication time while maintaining good quality of an image. SOLUTION: In the image communication method, the image is reduced and transmitted by the transmitting side and the received image is magnified and reproduced by the receiving side, the transmitting side reduces the image by thinning, attaches prescribed weight to data of pixels to be thinned out around pixels which are not thinned out, adds the weight to data about the pixels which are not thinned out and transmits reduced data and the receiving side reproduces the thinned pixels by taking an average of the received pixels which are not thinned out around the thinned pixels among pieces of the received data, magnifies and reproduces the image.
