PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select a frame suitable for a still picture out of frames constituting a moving picture. SOLUTION: An object is periodically photographed to obtain many pictures of frames F1 to F7 constituting the moving picture. Whether AE, AF and AWB are in an operation state or a non-operation state is detected corresponding to respective frame pictures. Moving picture data and data showing operation states of AE and the like are recorded to be related with each other in a memory card. The moving picture is reproduced, and a user selects the frame picture F3 for the still picture out of a plurality of the frames F1 to F7 constituting the moving picture. The picture F8, which is near the selected picture F3 and in which the operation states of AE and the like are in the non-operation state, is displayed for the still picture as an optimum picture.
