<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent mistaken density correction control by again performing reading by a density sensor when there is any trouble in the reading of a sensor for detecting a first patch and an abnormal read value is outputted. <P>SOLUTION: This color image forming apparatus is constituted so that a difference between the chromaticity of the second patch formed on a transfer material and a preliminarily held throshold value is calculated when the density characteristics of respective colorants are corrected on the basis of the chromaticity, which is detected by a color sensor 42, in an image processing part CONT, the first patch is again formed on the transfer material if the calculated difference is a predetermined value or above, the density of the first patch formed on the transfer material is detected by the density sensor 41, the processing for correcting the density characteristics of the colorants on the basis of the density detection result is repeated and, if the difference is the predetermined value or below, the correction content of the density characteristics of the colorants is renewed on the basis of the detected chromaticity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
