PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk wherein a countermeasure is taken to prevent unauthorized copying.

SOLUTION: The optical disk is provided with, on a substrate, a recording region for recording user data and a management region having an identification information region for recording disk-specific identification information such as address information (ID), an SYN code or an error detection code (EDC). The identification information region in the optical disk has a flat portion (mirror region) formed by sectioning a part of a groove or a land in a given step. The disk-specific identification information is recorded as irreversible record marks on the identification information region including the mirror region. Moreover, the disk-specific identification information is detected by a laser beam which is servoed on the recording track of the optical disk, and a change in the detected signal level of the disk-specific identification information is detected based on a predetermined threshold (slice level).
