PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage device capable of acting as an exclusive storage device for a video apparatus and also acting as a file server. SOLUTION: When detecting that the storage device 10 is connected to the video apparatus 20, a CPU 104 switches an operating mode of the storage device 10 into a DAS mode (an operating mode wherein the storage device acts like a storage device exclusively for the video apparatus) (step S302). When it is not detected that the storage device 10 is connected to the video apparatus 20, the CPU 104 switches the operating mode of the storage device 10 into a NAS mode (an operating mode wherein the storage device acts like a file server directly connected to a network) (step S305).
