PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high speed linear motor in which an exciting current can be reversed quickly while suppressing lowering of thrust as much as possible. SOLUTION: The linear motor comprises a stator arranged with a plurality of alternating flux generating means in parallel through spacers, and a slider arranged with a plurality of DC flux generating means in parallel through spacers and movable while facing the stator. When one alternating flux generating means arranged in the stator faces one DC flux generating means arranged in the slider, a part of flux generated from one DC flux generating means arranged in the slider is bypassed to the magnetic circuit of an alternating flux generating means contiguous to one alternating flux generating means by a DC flux bypassing means.
