The assembly to treat sewage has an effluent inflow (Z) into a settling pond (1), for an initial treatment, and the outflow is passed to a membrane station (3). The membrane assembly has micro-filtration membranes with a biological cleaning action for a cleaned liquid phase to be taken off (A). The settling pond collects rain water, and has an aerator (2), preferably a spiral unit. The membranes are of hollow fiber polymers, with a pore size of 0.01-0.2 mu m and preferably 0.03-0.1 mu m. A cyclic fine bubble aeration (B2) is at the membrane assembly, together with a coarse bubble aeration (B1) to prevent the build-up of deposit layers.
