The compound material is formed by one or two flexible covering layers (10,14) with an intermediate layer (16), with a filament system (20) to bond the layers (10,14,16) together. The intermediate layer (16) is composed of ground or chopped recycled plastics and/or natural materials (18). The ground/chopped intermediate layer materials (18) are from compressed car roofs and/or foam materials and/or paper and/or cigarette filters. A needling system carries the bonding filaments (20) through the intermediate layer (16). The covering layers (10,14) are non-woven, films, papers, woven fabrics or knitted materials. The bonding filaments (20) are passed through the material structure by stitching, knitting, stitch knitting, weaving or embroidery techniques. At least two compound materials can be bonded together in a multiple structure. At least one outer layer (10,14) is covered by one or more inflexible protective layers, with adhesive bonding between them. An Independent claim is included for a production process where one layer (14) is spread over a supporting underlay (6), to be covered by scattered ground/chopped materials (18) for the intermediate layer (16). The other covering layer (10) is laid over the spread material (18), and the layers (10,14,16) are bonded together. Preferred Features: The intermediate layer (16) is compressed before the layers are bonded together. The bonding filaments (20) are passed through the layers (10,14,16) by a suitable needle system (2). Adhesive bonding can be used in addition to needling with bonding filaments.
