METHOD FOR RECOVERING PHOSPHOR POWDER

A method for recovering a phosphor powder, characterized in that the phosphor powder is separated and recovered by the use of a liquid-liquid separation process from a powder mixture containing the phosphor powder. The method is a solid separating technique, wherein a mixture of three phosphor powders for three wave lengths containing rare earth elements recovered from a wasted fluorescent tube is separated into each of respective three wave length component powders substantially without dissolution of their mother crystals. In some embodiments, use is made of 2-thenoyltrifluoroacetone, potassium sodium tartrate, sodium carbonate, n-heptane, chloroform, N,N-dimethyl formamide, dodecylamine, sodium 1-octanesulfonate, ethanol, 1-pentanol, water or the like, and the separation can be achieved in an easy and economical way with good efficiency.
