<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inverter and a refrigerator capable of suppressing rising of temperature of a power semiconductor. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of power semiconductors 38 form an inverter circuit 33, and a micro computer 37 controls switching of the power semiconductors 38. The micro computers 37 sets any one of power semiconductors 38 to be on-operation for a set time T just before a motor 11 is driven, and makes a DC current flow the motor 11 so that the rotor of the motor 11 is aligned with an initial position. The power semiconductors 38 are rotated to be set on-operation each time the control is performed. So, even if start/stop of the motor 11 is frequently performed, the energizing is distributed among the power semiconductors 38 to avoid concentration of heat.
