<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image compressor and computer software which can aim at power saving by having a plurality of image compressing parts and ceasing operation of an unselected image compressing part, obtaining a stable, appropriate image just after switch at the time of switch from moving image compression to still image compression or from the still image compression to the moving image compression, or the like, and performing switch output without delay. <P>SOLUTION: In the image compressor equipped with the plurality of image compressing parts 1 and 2 for applying compression processing to image data and a switching means for outputting the image compressed data of the selected image compressing part, an output result detecting part for detecting a data rate value of the image compressed data in the image compressing parts, a part for detecting compressed information for detecting compressed information for execution in the image compressing parts, and a compressed information calculating means 3a for calculating calculated compressed information, based on the data rate value, the compressed information for execution and a target data rate value, are provided.
