PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To feed ink to a print head while keeping a constant negative pressure, and to prevent ink leakage. SOLUTION: The ink cartridge includes an ink chamber 2, an atmosphere communication connection opening 4 and connected to the ink chamber and regularly maintaining valve close condition, an ink-feeding connection opening 5, a negative pressure generation mechanism 3, and valve means provided at the atmosphere communication connection opening 4 and the ink-feeding connection opening 5. The negative pressure generation mechanism 3 keeps the ink of the ink chamber 2 at a predetermined negative pressure and is evacuated to the ink feeding connection opening 5. The valve means keep the valves 10 and 20 closed when not attached to the printing apparatus, and open the valves upon attachment to the printing apparatus by a movement operation in one direction.
