More particularly, the driver 2 includes a driving signal generation section 21 which generates a driving signal having a pulse width proportional to a video signal level to the plurality of the signal lines X and the circuit 5 includes a video analysis section 55 which segments the video signals for one horizontal line to a prescribed number of blocks and determines the average level of the video signals at the block unit, a correction voltage calculation section 57 which determines the correction voltages appropriate for the voltage drop by the wiring resistance of the scanning lines Y relating to the respective blocks based on the average levels of the video signals and a control circuit 52 which controls the section 21 in such a manner that the driving signals for the respective blocks are subjected to level correction in correspondence to the corresponding correction voltages determined in the section 57.
