PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a panel for image display whose durability is enhanced by using an inactive gas heavier than air as a gas with which a gap between substrates is filled without using a large scale equipment, to provide its manufacturing method and to provide an image display device. SOLUTION: In the panel for image display used for an image display device and displaying an image by encapsulating a particle group 3A between two substrates 1 and 2 opposed to each other at least one of which is transparent and applying an electric field to the particle group from two kinds of electrodes 5 and 6 having potentials different from each other to make the particle group fly and move, the gap between the substrates which is to be filled with the particle group, is filled with the inactive gas heavier than air and closely sealed. Powder and granular material 3B can be used instead of the particle group 3A and with the same constitution, the purpose of this invention can be achieved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
