PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device loading an image reading means that can be loaded at the same time as a recording head having a function where a malfunction is not performed in white reference reading and original reading. SOLUTION: The recording device is provided with a holding means which can simultaneously load the recording head and a reader having an image reading means, a position detection means detecting a position of the holding means when the holding means is relatively moved along recording paper and a reading original, a line start signal generation means generating a line start signal of the reader from the position detection means and an electric control means with which a recording device body electrically controls the holding means, the recording head and the reader. The electric control means controls power to the position detection device loaded on the holding means when the holding means reaches a position which is previously decided with position information detected by the position detection means.
