PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a control system of a combination sewing machine by stopping needle bars and thread take-ups with a simple structure when a multi-needle sewing machine is paused. SOLUTION: In each of the multi-needle sewing machines 1 (A) and 1 (B), a set of the needle bars 9 and the thread take-ups 10 of a head 6 is placed in a sewing position by color changing devices 13 and 15 through rods 12 and 14. The needle bar 9 and the thread take-up 10 in the sewing position are driven by a main shaft 16, which is common to every head 6, through a power transmission device. A needle bar absent part 33 and a thread take-up absent part 44 are provided on a part of the head 6. When the multi-needle sewing machine is paused, the absent parts 33 and 44 are placed in the sewing position by the color changing devices 13 and 15, and the needle bar 9 and the thread take-up 10 of the sewing machine head 6 are stopped.
