The multi-plate friction clutch has a housing (12), a number of first discs (30a-30d) connected to the housing (12) and a number of second discs (34a, 34b) coupled to a hub (36). The hub (36) has outwardly extending coupling arms (46) each with coupling protrusions which engage in radially inwardly closed apertures (60) in at least one of the second discs (34a, 34b) so that the second discs are rotary fixed but axially moveable. First discs (30a-30d) have recesses (32) which engage web portions (16) on housing (12) so that the first discs (30a-30d) are rotary fixed but axially displaceable. A diaphragm spring (24) biases all of the discs into mutual engagement. Hub (36) has a ring-shaped member region which forms an axial locking region for axial locking the hub (36) with respect to the friction discs (34a, 34b).
