<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably communicate information on the state and necessary for maintenance of a device unit in real time. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus controlling communication according to the attached/detached state of the attachable/detachable device unit is equipped with a 1st communication part communicating 1st control information through a 1st cable communication connectors (221 and 233) through which the device unit (230) and the image forming apparatus are connected at a connection position inside the image forming apparatus, a 2nd communication part communicating 2nd control information through radio communication units (223 and 234) between the device unit and the image forming apparatus, and a switching control part (231) detecting the connection state of the 1st cable communication connector and switching the communication by the 1st communication part or the 2nd communication part according to the result of detection. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
