<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus, its method and program capable of performing standard image output such as sRGB, and capable of forming an optimum image by image processing from image information of a wider dynamic range, with respect to printing usage, etc. <P>SOLUTION: Using a CCD equipped with main sensitizing pixels having a relatively narrow dynamic range and subsidiary sensitizing pixels having a relatively wide dynamic range, first image information from the main sensitizing pixels and second pixel information from the subsidiary sensitizing pixels are acquired by one exposure, and these are recorded separately as two files of correlated names. A user can select necessity/unnecessity of recording of the second image information, and the dynamic ranges of the second image information through a predetermined user's interface.
