PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively absorbing shocks of a tread shoulder from a side wall. SOLUTION: A truck steer tire 10 has side grooves 24 and 240 which extend laterally inwardly from the tread wall 29 in a circumferentially continuous fashion. The side grooves 24 and 240 lie between the tread surface 26 and a belt reinforcing structure 15. The side grooves 24 and 240 has a minimum groove (w) of≥5 mm, and the ratio of the groove depth to the groove width is 1.0 to 2.4. The grooves 24 and 240 preferably have a groove base having a radius profile R, and a radially inner portion of the profile R is at least equal to one-half the minimum groove width (w).
