PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive and small-space heat source system of high system operating efficiency for an air conditioner and the factory equipment, and to provide a control method of the heat source system for the air conditioner and the factory equipment. SOLUTION: This heat source system 1 comprises a plurality of heat sources 11, 12, 13 for cooling or heating a heat medium, heat medium pumps 21, 22, 23 for press feeding the cooled or heated heat medium to an external load 3, a going and returning temperature difference acquiring means for detecting the going and returning temperature difference, an external heat medium flow rate detecting means 46 for detecting a flow rate of the heat medium in the external load 3, and a control part 47 for controlling the heat sources 11, 12, 13 and the heat medium pumps 21, 22, 23. The control part 47 controls the press-feed flow rate of the heat medium pumps 21, 22, 23 on the basis of the going and returning temperature difference and the heat medium flow rate, and a maximum press-feed flow rate per a unit time of at least one heat medium pump is the excess flow more than the heat medium circulation flow rate in the maximum load.
