PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the labor and cost for working before and after welding and to obtain good finish by providing mounting structure for a metallic member in which a welding bead (padding) does not occur in mounting by arc welding and a metallic member used therefor. SOLUTION: In the mounting structure for a metallic member in which the inserting part of the metallic member is inserted into a mounting hole opened in a mounting material and the metallic member is mounted on the mounting material, the metallic member is provided with, at the end face of the base part thereof, the inserting part projecting beyond the end face. The outside diameter of the inserting part is formed smaller than that of the base material and also insertable into the mounting hole. The outer circumference of the inserting part at the end face of the base part is provided with a part to be melted having an outside diameter smaller than that of the base material and larger than the inside diameter of the mounting hole. The inserting part of the metallic member is inserted into the mounting hole to bring the part to be melted into contact with the mounting material, so that the mounting material and the part to be melted are welded by heat generation welding such as spot welding. The part to be melted can be provided on two or more places in the outer circumference of the inserting part. Further, the part to be melted is not projected to the outside of the base part even if being flatly crushed between the metallic member and mounting material. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
