The invention relates to a system for laying a bridge (13) between two banks, comprising a bridge transport vehicle with a self-powered, remotely-controlled platform (1), having means (18) for deployment of the bridge (13) and for retraction thereof. Said platform (1) is not occupied by personnel and is not armoured. Said system further comprises a control post with means for communication with said platform (1). Said platform has a power unit (4, 8) giving the same an autonomous off-road ability remote from the control post.
