摘要 PURPOSE: A camera device having a collapsible optical system for reducing starting time, a method for starting a camera device, and a program therefor are provided to execute other initialization works while executing a mechanical initialization work that an optical system is driven to a predetermined position when an operation mode for photographing is set. CONSTITUTION: An electronic still camera has lens block(1) including a collapsible lens group(11) formed of a zoom lens and a focus lens arranged movable in direction of an optical axis. A driver unit drives the lens group. In starting the electronic still camera in a state that an operation mode for photographing is set, a CPU(Central Processing Unit)(5) controls the driving unit to start driving to a predetermined position by initialization of the lens group prior to other initializations except the initialization of the initialization of the lens group. A memory(41) stores a control program for controlling the electronic still camera. The CPU reads a starting program for initializing the lens group included in the control program from the memory.
