Process for manufacturing a vehicle body part

A process for producing a vehicle chassis component, comprises applying a thin liquid plastic film (16) onto a deep drawn outer skin (14). The plastic is hardened and the outer skin is then back foamed. The film is sprayed on and its hardness exceeds that of the foam layer (18). The foam is produced by a long fibre injection technique and is fibre reinforced. The outer skin consists of a plastic or aluminium film, especially a duroplastic such as polyester resin or polyurethane. The foam layer has a thickness that varies by a factor of two. Before back foaming, inserts (20,22) are placed in the mould (30).
