A security system, suitable for securing a car or premises, comprises a security box with independent power and charger, a sensor switch, a microphone and a speaker. When armed, the system sends confirmation to a user that the system is ready and working by calling the users mobile telephone. Once armed, the alarm is activated if an alert situation is sensed by a secured door, or a secured car boot or bonnet 3, being opened. When so triggered the system informs a user of the alert via a mobile telephone 4 and allows the user to hear inside the car or premises and allows the user speak to any person inside via the mobile telephone link 5. The authorised user may have five seconds to disarm the system via a hidden switch once triggered. The system is to be hidden in the car or premises.
