PURPOSE: A method for controlling a reverse gain of a mobile communication wireless repeater and a method therefor are provided to cut off emissions of reverse noise of an unused repeater except a used repeater, thereby increasing receive sensitivity of a base station and increasing a call capacity and usage of frequency resources. CONSTITUTION: When a system initialization is completed(401), a controller confirms an enable state or a disable state of a reverse gain control function(402). If the control function is in disable mode, the controller minimizes a gain control attenuation of a reverse path(403), and performs a general monitoring control function(404). If the function is in enable mode, the controller evaluates quality of a reverse signal(405), and decides whether a call is used in the reverse path(406). If so, the controller minimizes the gain control attenuation(409), and converts the reverse path into an active mode(410). The controller periodically checks whether the call is used in the reverse path(406), and delays the call(411) to maintain the active mode(412).
