<p>A push-push switching catch mechanism comprises a movable member 32, figure 8, biassed within a housing 12, for example by spring 51, in a direction to project out of the housing, figure 21, the movable member being locked by a push-push mechanism in one of two positions within the housing, figures 21 and 24, in response to the movable member being pushed by a counterpart S to the catch mechanism, the push-push lock mechanism comprising a locking device, for example heart-shaped cam 41, 43, on a side of the movable member interacting with a locking device, for example cam followers 63a, 64a, at the side of the housing. In the caught position, figure 24, arms 44 of the movable member withdraw into the housing to grip and thereby catch with the counterpart S. In the uncaught position, figure 21, the arms 44 lie outside the housing and release the counterpart S. The push-push switching mechanism characteristically has switch contacts 81 which are open in the figure 21 position and closed in the figure 24 position.</p> |
