Superheated steam and water vapour are supplied via a tube (5) and valve (7) to a zone (4) where it is cooled by water supplied via another tube (6) and valve (8) to a different zone (9), generating saturated steam which exits via nozzles (1, 2). A water trap (3) ensures water remains in the extinguisher, irrespective of its position relative to the horizontal plane.
