<p>The invention relates to a device for detecting the arrival of a jet of molten metal and to the use of such a device. An image of a surveying zone (10), comprised between two secant planes (14, 15), is formed by means of a source of light (241) by using a known process of detecting a liquid metal jet, being then followed by the image of an incandescent metal jet, the luminosity of said image being converted into an electrical value which is transmitted as functional information. According to the invention, the device comprises an optical light detection system consisting of an adjustable focus lens, a photoelectric transducer, particularly a photo diode (3), a convertor (2), a comparator (5), an intermediate buffer stage (6), a power supply stage (7) and a light source (241). The invention also relates to the use of the device for detecting the arrival of the first drop of liquid metal jet, generated in the pouring spout (60) with a large opening of the pouring ladle (30).</p> |
