The invention relates to a low-pressure mercury vapour fluorescent tube, with reduced switching on and electric power functioning, generally provided with hot cathode (filaments) or with electrodes. According to the invention, the fluorescent tube uses a volume of a gasodynamic medium between an outer classical pipe with luminophore on the intrados and filaments at its closed ends, and a dielectric inner pipe (2), closed at its ends, and concentrically suspended with the pipe (1), the entire volume of the pipe, which is vacuumed or filled, does not take part in the electric discharge. The electric power for functioning is reduced proportional with the reduction of the gasodynamic volume.
