PURPOSE: A printing system and method is provided to print a file stored at a portable storage device via an interface without an operation at a host computer so that it enhances a convenience. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a printer(100) and a portable storage device(200). The printer(100) is connected to the portable storage device(200) and a host computer, generated certain key strokes and outputs them to the host computer if a printing file selection signal is input, and prints the selected file based on the key stroke command. The printer(100) includes an interface(110), a printing module(120), an input module(150) and a controller(160). The controller(160) generates the key strokes based on a file selection command inputted via the input module(150), outputs the generated key strokes inputted via the interface(110), and controls a printing operation.
