PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for charging a battery are provided to configure solar charging system with low profile(less than 2W) without using an inductor or a transformer. CONSTITUTION: A method for charging a battery comprises a step of measuring a charging voltage when charging the battery, a step of determining whether the charging voltage is equal to or more than a full charge voltage, a step of measuring a voltage of a separated battery when the battery is separated from the charger in case that the charging voltage is equal to or more than a full charge voltage, and a step of performing a switch on-off operation in such a manner that the voltage of the separated battery is equal to the full charge voltage.
