Oral dosage forms comprising an opioid agonist with releasable and sequestered opioid antagonists

An oral dosage form comprises a therapeutically effective amount of an opioid agonist, an opioid antagonist in releasable form and a sequestered antagonist which is not released when the dosage form is administrated intact. Preferably the antagonists are selected from naltrexone, naloxone, nalmephene, cyclazocine, levallorphan, and mixtures thereof and the agonist is selected from morphine, hydromorphone, hydrocodone, oxycodone, codeine, levorphanol, tramadol, meperidine, methadone and mixtures thereof. The dosage forms are useful for the treatment of pain.
