An isolated and purified nucleic acid molecule has a nucleotide sequence selected from that set forth in Figure 5 (SEQ ID NO:10) for Moraxella catarrhalis strain LES-1 or the sequence encoding an about 200 kDa outer membrane protein strain for Moraxella catarrhalis strain LES-1. Vectors, cells, proteins and methods of producing the protein are also described. An immunogenic composition can comprise the protein for use as a vaccine to protect against disease caused by Moraxella catarrhalis.
