PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid medium for diagnosing bacterial vaginosis quickly, easily and objectively even without the need of any skill in view of the fact that the established diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis has required expertise and skill so far. SOLUTION: The liquid medium is such that Chlorophenol Red is added as a pH indicator to a medium for lactobacillus, particularly the initial pH is strictly specified. If this liquid medium is implanted with a vaginal specimen and then cultured for a given period of time, an evident red-yellow color change occurs depending on the initial cell number of lactobacillus contained in the vaginal specimen, therefore enabling bacterial vaginosis to be diagnosed easily and objectively.
