PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change the inserting length of a seedling into soil according to the length, and the like, of the seedling in a transplanter for a liana seedling such as a sweet potato. SOLUTION: This seedling transplanter is provided with a traveling apparatus 1 self-propelling a machine body, a seedling transporting part 3 transporting the liana seedling for planting on the traveling apparatus 1, a seedling planting body 4 receiving the liana seedling from the seedling transporting part 3 and planting the liana seedling in a field while holding the base part of the liana seedling and lifting and lowering by drawing a closed looped locus when viewed from the side. The seedling planting body 4 is composed as follows. The seedling planting body 4 holds the base part of the liana seedling with the seedling planting body 4, lowers and thrusts into the soil of the field, then moves in the direction along the forward direction of the machine body, moves through a set distance in the direction, then loosens the holding of the seedling, lifts and operates so as to escape from the soil. A speed change transmission part 80 changing the speed when the seedling planting body 4 moves in the direction along the forward direction of the machine body in the soil is provided in a transmission part to the seedling planting body 4.
