[Also in Division E2] A box pallet has at least one of its side walls 2 hinged to the base 1 and an aperture 9 in the upper surface of the base has a vertical wall 12 which serves as a stop preventing outward swinging of such wall 2 beyond the vertical position. The pallet base is made of extruded metal section and the aperture 9 therein may be a hole or, as shown, a recess. The barrel of the hinge is a tubular element 4 having extensions 3, 5 of which the former receives the wall panel 2 and the latter provides the means for engaging the stop 12. Mounted on the base is a bracket 7 carrying the axle pin 6 of the hinge. This pin extends the full width of the base, but the barrel need not: it may consist of two or more shorter collinear tubes. All four walls of the box pallet may be so hinged.</p> |
