<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection method for determining accepted products/non-accepted products in a watercolor pigment ink composition more accurately than a centrifugal method, and to provide a manufacturing method for utilizing the inspection method. <P>SOLUTION: The inspection method includes a process for inserting an ink liquid sample sampled from the watercolor pigment ink composition to be inspected into a sample tube for measuring backscattering light, and for obtaining an initial value by measuring backscattering light intensity reaching a bottom section from the upper end section of a sample in the sample tube (1); a process for allowing the sample in the sample tube to be still standing over a specific storage period (2); a process for obtaining a change value by measuring the backscattering light intensity reaching the bottom section from the upper end section under the same measurement conditions as the process (1) for regarding the sample in the sample tube after the process (2) (3); and a process for comparing the initial value obtained in the process (1) with the change value obtained in the process (3), and determines conforming or non-conforming regarding the settlement characteristics of an ink composition to be inspected, based on a tolerance value being predetermined, based on the length of the specific storage period in the process (2), (4).
