PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the optical location detection device that assumes the linearity in the location detection output. SOLUTION: This location detection device has the reflecting plates 11p and 11y and the light projecting and receiving part which projects light to the reflecting plates and accepts the reflected light from them. The above-mentioned reflecting plates possess the first pattern 11a for the location detection of the first reflection factor, and the second pattern 11b for the location detection of the second reflection factor along the location detection direction. These patterns are arranged alternately so that the area ratio of the above first and second patterns for the location detection may change according to the location detection direction.
