PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress changes of a torque capacity of a torque capacity controller caused by providing other control valve when a first control valve is controlled by the oil pressure of the control valve except the first control valve. SOLUTION: The controller for the transmission has the first control valve for the transmission. It has a second control valve for the torque capacity controller. It is so constituted that the oil of a third control valve is supplied to the first control valve via a prescribed oil passage when the first control valve is broken down. The second control valve is connected to the prescribed oil passage. The controller for the transmission has a function judging means (a step S1) to judge the function of the first control valve, torque capacity judging means (steps S4, S6) to judge the state of the torque capacity controller, and timing selecting means (steps S5, 7, 8, and 9) to select the timing to supply the oil of the third control valve to the first control valve on the basis of the judgement result of the torque capacity.
