PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permanent magnet rotor in which a permanent magnet is accurately and efficiently provided. SOLUTION: The permanent magnet rotor includes the permanent magnet 130 inserted into a hole part 121 provided in a rotor core 120. In the permanent magnet rotor, the permanent magnet is coated with a mark 131 showing the magnetizing direction of the permanent magnet on the end face exposed from the rotor core. A method for manufacturing such a permanent magnet rotor includes a step of magnetizing the constituting member of the permanent magnet, a step of coating the mark showing the magnetizing direction of the permanent magnet on the end face of the permanent magnet exposed from the rotor core, and a step of inserting the permanent magnet coated with the mark into the hole part.
