PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a constant voltage circuit allowing reduction of electric power consumption equivalent to a standby state even in a normal use state, not requiring a control signal for changing over between the normal state and the standby state, and capable of being used in all equipment. SOLUTION: A voltage difference detection circuit 5 detects a voltage difference between a divided voltage Vs and a reference voltage Vref. When an absolute value of the detected voltage difference is a prescribed value or below, bias current supplied to the voltage difference detection circuit 5 and an error amplifier circuit 2 from a bias current change circuit 6 is reduced. When the absolute value of the detected voltage difference exceeds the prescribed value, the bias current supplied to the voltage difference detection circuit 5 and the error amplifier circuit 2 from the bias current change circuit 6 is increased to increase response.
