PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To position a granular object to be inspected to a photometry position when allowing the granular object to be subjected photometry by the line scanning of a scanner, to automatically perform discharge, and to cancel a photometry error by dirt in a photometry region. SOLUTION: Inserting the tip section of a tray 72 into an insertion port 80 is detected by a tray insertion detection sensor 90. Rotating a narrow-width roller 84 at a slot section 78 automatically pinches the tray 72 to the narrow-width roller 84 for feeding to the photometry position. Additionally, a photometry position detection sensor 92 detects the photometry position when the photometry position is reached, thus automatically stopping the drive of the narrow-width roller 84. Furthermore, the narrow-width roller 84 is inversely driven for moving until the narrow-width roller 84 projects from the insertion port 80. At this time, by detecting a rear end section in the exhaust direction of the tray 72 by a tray presence/absence detection sensor 88, the tray 72 is retained in an overhung state at the insertion port 80, thus preventing grains scattered to the sample plate 76 from falling, so that they are retained.
