PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reliability of an absorption water cooler/heater without increasing the number of components. SOLUTION: The absorption water cooler/heater 1 comprises an exhaust gas burning regenerator 10, a fluid passage 22, a fluid opening/closing means 30, a temperature detecting means 31, a direct burning regenerator 12 using the burning of a burner 12a as a heat source, a pump 38 for supplying liquid solution from an absorber to the exhaust gas burning regenerator, and a control part 72. The burner 12a of the direct burning regenerator 12 has a burning blower 12b. The control part 72 drives the burning blower 12b and the pump 38 in the state of stopping the burning of the burner 12a when the fluid passage 22 shuts off exhaust gas circulating therein and a temperature detected by the temperature detecting means 31 is a preset temperature or higher.
