PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve stacking property of a printed matter in a paper discharge mechanism disposed in an image forming apparatus of front access type. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus of front access type comprises a document reading section that is disposed in the upper part of the apparatus body and reads image information of the document, a paper supply section that is disposed in the lower part of the apparatus body and stores paper used for printing, and an image forming section disposed on one side of an intermediate part of the apparatus body. The apparatus body is formed in a U shape of the document reading section, the paper supply section, and the image forming section. The paper discharge mechanism is disposed in the image forming apparatus. A paper storing section 42 formed in an intermediate part space in the apparatus body has a flat surface 42a in the orthogonal direction to the paper conveying direction and a tilting surface 42b tilting downward from the flat surface 42a toward the back wall 43 side.
