Method for heating various liquid media in a motor vehicle with a combustion engine whereby, during braking, a part of the braking power is converted into electrical energy using a generator. The electric energy is then used to electrically heat a liquid. Alternately the heat is directly transmitted from the mechanical or hydraulic braking unit. The invention also relates to a corresponding motor vehicle with a combustion engine.
